Event: "American Horror Story: Coven" PaleyFest Panel

STORY & PHOTOS
Tonight was the PaleyFest panel for "American Horror Story: Coven" and hot damn, was the crowd excited! People literally cheered for everything but it was really fun. There was a good energy in the air. They screened the episode "Burn, Witch, Burn", and then brought out the cast.
In attendance were Gabourey Sidibe, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare, Frances Conroy, creator/executive producer Brad Falchuk, Sarah Paulson, creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, writer Tim Minear, Emma Roberts, executive producer Dante Di Loreto, and Jamie Brewer. (Jessica Lange was vacationing with her grandchildren; no mention of why Lily Rabe and Taissa Farmiga couldn't be there.) When Angela Bassett walked onto the stage, she was carrying Kathy Bates' head.
I thought the moderator, Tim Stack of Entertainment Weekly, did a really good job. My favorite part of the panel was Gabourey Sidibe, because she's flawless and hilarious and I want to be best friends with her. Sarah Paulson is really funny too; she made a ton of jokes and great facial expressions over the course of the night. She was also really great to the fans who were really excited to see her and brought her letters and made t-shirts and such. Very cute. Emma Roberts also revealed that she's been trying to make a video of herself saying "Surprise, bitch!" to gift to the internets, but she hasn't perfected it. Fingers crossed we'll see one of em one day!
Apparently it's tradition at PaleyFest for Ryan Murphy to announce details of the upcoming season and introduce a new cast member. He told us about next season's Freak Show theme and that it was something Jessica Lange has been wanting to do for a while. He then announced that Michael Chiklis (of "The Shield") would be joining the cast as Evan Peters' father and Kathy Bates' ex-husband. Michael came on stage and greeted the cast, even giving a hug to his new TV son Evan.
All in all it was a very fun evening, and most of the cast stuck around to sign autographs after the show. Emma Roberts was very sweet ("Nancy Drew" and "Scream 4" are my jam), so shoutout to Emma. Can't wait to see what they do with the Freak Show theme!
