STORY & PHOTOS

Legendary horror author Stephen King maintains a low-key lifestyle in his home state of Maine, but his gorgeous home in Bangor is evidence of his brilliantly creepy mind (and successful career).

Though not an official tourist attraction, the King home does attract a lot of attention and is widely photographed. It's the kind of house that you'd take a second look at even if you didn't know Stephen King lives there -- it just looks like the kind of beautiful old mansion where a cool horror story would take place. There are even little bats on the front gate!

UPDATED: I recently went back and took my boyfriend there (if you can't tell by the photo, he's a big "Shawshank Redemption" fan) and we snapped a few photos:

I have to laugh at the fact that we're wearing our Easter pastels in front of the "creepy" mansion. Go team!
