STORY & PHOTOS
The off-the-charts cheery High School Musical franchise revived the teen musical genre (hello, "Glee"!), made a ton of money for Disney, and made stars of its young actors Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale. Much of it was also filmed on location at an actual high school -- East High School in Salt Lake City, to be exact.
If you're a fan of the HSM films you'll get a definite thrill from being at the actual East High.
East High is an impressive but still down-to-earth establishment; it's easy to see why producers chose to film here. I myself have visited twice: once in 2009 and once in 2010.
East High was actually having an art show in the cafeteria on one of the days that I visited, so I got to go inside and check out the caf! It was exactly as you'd hope, based on the movies. This is a feel-good location that will make you little-kid-giddy if you're a fan of the films. Bonus points if you re-enact any Zefron dance moves!
