"D2: The Mighty Ducks" is my favorite film of all time. True story. I'd live in its world if I could, but the next best option is marrying Averman or, more realistically, visiting the filming locations.
In the beginning of the film there's a great sequence where Charlie (Joshua Jackson) skates around town, gathering up the original Ducks team members, and eventually they reunite with Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez). My heart is warm just writing about this. Damn, I wish I could skate.
The reunion takes place outside of the Band Box Diner in Minneapolis, where Bombay waits for his team to arrive.
I find it funny that the billboard says Duck Head, because as coach of the Ducks, isn't Bombay the "Duck Head"? You know.
As the Ducks arrive, they swarm Bombay in a group hug that I wish I could be a part of. Luckily, the Band Box is a real diner in Minneapolis that has pretty good reviews on Yelp. Click here to take a peek inside courtesy of Google Maps!
