Andie's house from "Pretty in Pink"

Andie's house from "Pretty in Pink"

The house where Andie (Molly Ringwald) and her dad live in "Pretty in Pink".

1010 Hope Street
South Pasadena, CA

Note: this is a private home. It's okay to take photos from the street but make sure you don't trespass or disturb the residents in any way!

John Hughes is one of my favorite filmmakers of all time -- he wrote and directed some of my favorite 80s and 90s movies, and whenever I watch them I get really nostalgic and happy. One of those films is "Pretty in Pink", starring Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer, and Andrew McCarthy.

A lot of John Hughes' films were set in and shot near Chicago, but "Pretty in Pink" is an L.A. story and most of the filming locations are still intact in and around Los Angeles. Andie's (Molly Ringwald) house, for instance, can be found in Pasadena.

The house really is just steps away from a set of train tracks (on the wrong side of the tracks, I'm guessing) and still looks pretty much the same as it did when it appeared in the 1986 film.

My cousin Alana and I visited the house last spring and snapped a few photos with it. Aside from a new fence, the house looks remarkably the same almost 30 years later.

If only I had Andie's hideous prom dress to pose in! Dreams would have come true, let me tell ya.
