Greystone Park & Mansion are free, open to the public, and an oft-used filming location.

The Greystone Park & Mansion in Beverly Hills is a popular filming location and a beautiful spot to visit. It’s open to the public until around 5pm every day and there is free parking. The address is 905 Loma Vista Drive.

You may recognize the mansion from films like Ghostbusters (it was Gracie Mansion), The Big Lebowski, Batman and Robin, Indecent Proposal, X-Men, The Holiday (it stood in for a restaurant interior) and Death Becomes Her. It also stood in for Rory’s school, Chilton, on “Gilmore Girls”.

Aside from its location factor, the park & mansion are worth a visit for the scenery alone. The mansion is gorgeous, the grounds are pretty and serene, and from the front of the property is a gorgeous view of all of Los Angeles.

The flash mob scene from "Weeds" was filmed at the Hollywood & Highland complex.

In the fifth season of Showtime’s “Weeds”, Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) is entranced by a flash mob that dances to Michael Franti’s “Say Hey” while she’s hanging out at an outdoor mall. The outdoor mall is actually the Hollywood & Highland complex on Hollywood Boulevard. The fountain is very recognizable and you can clearly see the Lucky Brand Jeans store in the background of the flash mob.

The fountain/water feature at Hollywood & Highland.

A wider view.

The Hollywood & Highland complex is a cool place to check out if you’re on Hollywood Boulevard. It’s right across the street from El Capitan Theatre and next to the Hard Rock Cafe and Madame Toussaud’s Wax Museum. The complex has stores, restaurants, and a great view of the Hollywood sign.

The Hollywood & Highland complex has also been seen in The Italian Job, Hollywood Homicide, Stuck on You, and Collateral.

"Arrested Development" may soon be coming to a theater near you! Until then, check out our location guide of the spots seen on the show!

FOX’s canceled cult favorite comedy “Arrested Development” may not be on TV anymore… but if the show’s devoted fans have anything to say about it, it’ll soon be on the big screen. With all of the cast members signed on and Mitch Hurwitz working on a script, let’s keep our fingers crossed that they can work out their schedules and get the movie filmed this year! In the meantime, you can visit some of the filming locations from “Arrested Development” to relive your favorite Bluth moments.

Much of the on-location action took place at Fisherman’s Village in Marina del Rey. (Unfortunately the above sign has since been moved/removed.) They called it Oceanside Wharf on the show, but everything else is practically the same. Oh yeah, except there’s not really a banana stand there. But the lighthouse you see behind the banana stand on the show is really there, and you can get a burger or hot dog for lunch there. The round blue tables that George Michael and gang routinely sat at are there. You can close your eyes and imagine the banana stand is there, right?

Just across the walkway is Sapori’s, the side of which stood in for a candy apple stand – remember when Gob chipped his tooth and started whistling when he spoke? (”You’d better let me do the talking.”)

Sapori's doubled as a candy apple stand.

And, finally, docked at Fisherman’s Village is the Marina Hornblower — also known as the boat George Sr. was arrested on. It’s usually there, and easy to snap a photo with.

Nearby in Marina del Rey is the Shell Station (4770 Lincoln Boulevard) where Michael and Maeby stop in “Afternoon Delight”…

…as well as Panini Coffee & Cafe, where Michael and Oscar met in “Whistler’s Mother”:

The cafe is located at 4325 Glencoe Avenue in Marina del Rey. Interiors were used in the episode.

On Venice Boulevard in Mar Vista, you’ll find a few more locations.

At 12320 is Robinson’s Beautilities, a costume shop that Tobias walks by in the first-season finale.

A few feet down the street at 12310 is Sam Johnson’s Book Shop, where Tobias notices his book The Man Inside Me, and later does a book reading.

Around the corner at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Coffee House (3838 S Centinela) is where Kitty met with the Bluth boys to try to take control of the Bluth Company.

(The interiors were used for the filming of the episode.)

In Los Angeles, University High School at 11800 Texas Avenue was used for George Michael and Maeby’s high school.

A bit further north in Culver City is where a lot of the show was filmed, mainly because its home was Culver Studios. Alandale’s, where Marta buys Michael a suit, is at 9715 Washington Boulevard:

Culver City Hall at 9770 Culver Boulevard is where all of the exterior scenes at court took place.

The Culver Hotel at 9400 Culver Boulevard stood in for Deliberations, the bar where Michael picked up Maggie Lizer. Inside the hotel is Munchkin’s, the hotel restaurant where Kitty once claimed Michael was threatening her.

(The Culver Hotel actually has a rich history; it’s where many of the Wizard of Oz bit players stayed while filming the movie at the nearby studio.)

Though the show wasn’t actually filmed in Orange County, it was set there and inspired by creator Mitch Hurwitz’s Orange County upbringing (he went to high school in Costa Mesa).

You might see a similar shot on the show.

In fact, Hurwitz has mentioned that the Bluth banana stand was inspired by two dueling banana shacks on Balboa Island: Dad’s Donut and Bakery Shop at 318 Marine Ave in Newport Beach and Sugar & Spice Original Frozen Banana just a few shops down the street. Though these eateries weren’t featured on the show, they definitely inspired it and the treats they offer are definitely delicious.

ABC's hit family comedy "Modern Family" is filmed in Southern California. Here are some of the spots seen on the show!

ABC’s comedy “Modern Family” combines the filming and narrative style of “The Office” with the wacky-family shenanigans of “Arrested Development” and is one of the funniest new shows on television. As the show takes place in southern California, it’s natural that it would shoot on location there as well. Here are a few locations showcased on the hilarious family comedy.

In “Coal Digger”, Luke and Manny get in trouble for fighting at school. The school they attend is Walgrove Elementary School at 1630 Walgrove Avenue in Los Angeles, CA.

In “Great Expectations” Mitchell and Cameron go out with their crazy friend Sal to Jones Hollywood at 7205 Santa Monica Boulevard (at Formosa Ave) in West Hollywood, CA.

In “Fears”, Gloria makes Jay and Manny go to the pier – supposedly to go fishing – and tricks them into conquering their fears of riding a rollercoaster. This scene took place at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA. (The Santa Monica Pier has been seen in countless other productions, including Forrest Gump and the Paul Rudd/Jason Segel film I Love You, Man.) The rollercoaster Gloria, Manny, and Jay ride is the rollercoaster at Pacific Park at the pier (380 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA).

Manny, Jay, and Gloria at the Pier. (Photo: ABC)

The Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park.

In “Fifteen Percent”, Jay and his buddies run into Cameron, and then Mitchell, at a deli. The deli is actually Papa Dons Deli at 303 Pasadena Ave in South Pasadena, CA.

In “Game Changer”, Claire runs all over LA trying to find an iPad for Phil for his birthday. At one point she goes to the Apple Store at The Grove, at 189 The Grove Dr in Los Angeles. Claire and Mitchell get kicked out for fighting, but under normal circumstances The Grove is a lovely place to spend your day.

Mitchell and Claire fight with a line-cutter at the Apple Store at The Grove. (Photo: ABC)

Filming returned to The Grove in “Benched” — it’s where Claire takes Alex shopping, but gets ditched and then runs into Gloria and Lilly.

As for the family homes you see in the credits each week? Phil & Claire’s house is at 10336 Dunleer Drive in Los Angeles; Jay and Gloria’s house is at 121 South Cliffwood Avenue in Los Angeles; and the home of Mitchell and Cameron (one of TV’s cutest couples) is at 2211 Fox Hills Drive in Culver City. Remember: these are private homes, so don’t trespass or disturb the residents!

A feature revealing locations used in the hit "Sex and the City" movie.

Sex and the City: The Movie 2008

A feature revealing locations used in the hit “Sex and the City” movie.

After four long years of waiting, “Sex and the City” fans finally got their favorite show back – on the big screen! Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda are once again sipping Cosmos, navigating the streets of Manhattan – and navigating the tricky world of love, sex, and relationships. And you can be the fifth friend (in your own mind) by gallivanting around NYC and checking out the city hotspots featured in the “Sex and the City” movie!

It’s at Italian restaurant Lumi at 963 Lexington Avenue that Charlotte runs into Big, yelling “I curse the day you were born!” before going into labor. Lenox Hill Hopital at 100 East 77th Street is where Charlotte gives birth to her daughter Rose, and where Harry tells Carrie that Big had been looking for her and hoping to run into her. Carrie and Louise meet for drinks at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel on 76th Street between Park & Madison. The exteriors of Carrie and Big’s gorgeous apartment were shot at a building across from the MOMA, at Fifth Avenue & 82nd Street. Exteriors of Charlotte and Harry’s apartment were shot on Park Avenue at 81st Street.

East 55th Street & Park Avenue, near a Mercedes-Benz dealership, is where Carrie ran past a girl screaming at her boyfriend and into a club. Samantha tries to buy a ring for herself at Christie’s Auction House on East 49th between Fifth & Sixth.

Charlotte goes running in Central Park, at the Reservoir, and the park’s Ladies’ Pavillion on the west side is where Carrie and Miranda discuss the issue of forgiveness where Steve’s betrayal is concerned.

It was outside of St. Patrick’s Cathedral that Carrie screamed at Big, “you’ve humiliated me!” and threw her flowers at him, after he failed to show up for their wedding.

And of course the girls attend Fashion Week at Bryant Park (between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues)… this is also where Harry and Charlotte take Lily on the carousel! Exteriors and the lobby of the Bryant Park Hotel (40 West 40th Street between Fifth Avenue & Sixth Avenue) were also used. The Piano Suite at the Hotel Giraffe was converted into Big’s apartment – you can find the building at 365 Park Avenue.

Big and Carrie’s wedding festivities were supposed to be at the New York Public Library at Fifth Avenue & East 42nd Street – Carrie discovered it while returning her book of love letters. But don’t just visit; throw a party! The library rents Astor Hall and the McGraw Rotunda for wedding receptions (although they won’t let you perform the actual ceremony in the stacks). Like Carrie, you’ll need your own Anthony; the library requires that couples use a professional wedding planner.

Carrie meets with Enid at Vogue in the Conde Nast Building in Times Square. Also on Broadway is the Duane Reade drugstore where Carrie and Miranda shop for Halloween costumes. Carrie is shopping at Diane von Furstenberg at 874 Washington Street between 13th & 14th when she calls Samantha to inform her of her and Big’s marriage plans. (Miranda and Charlotte are with Carrie at The Modern on 53rd street when they hear the news.) Carrie and Charlotte shop for a new desk for Carrie at Luceplan on Greene Street. (Nearby is an empty store where producers re-created the Coffee Shop from the show!)

Carrie met her new assistant Louise for an interview at Starbucks, at 13 Astor Place #25. Later, Carrie meets Louise and her boyfriend at La Focaccia on Bank Street in Greenwich Village.

Carrie’s iconic brownstone steps are at 66 Perry Street and provide the meeting place for Miranda and Carrie to discuss the Valentine’s Day debacle (which took place at glam spot Raoul’s at 180 Prince Street).

Big and Carrie’s elegant engagement party took place at hotspot Buddakan, which is at 75 Ninth Avenue at the corner of 16th Street. Nearby is designer-owned brunch spot 202, which is where Miranda finally decided to forgive Steve. Vitra on Ninth Avenue between 13th & 14th was used as the exterior for Samantha’s 50th birthday celebration at the end of the film. When Miranda, Steve, Brady, and Magda went out to dinner, the Good World Bar & Grill on Orchard Street in Chinatown stood in for a Brooklyn eatery.

Several Brooklyn locations were used as well – obviously the Brooklyn Bridge, where Miranda and Steve had their moving reconciliation; the Brooklyn Supreme Court Building at 360 Adams Ave is where Big and Carrie finally tied the knot in a simple ceremony. The gathering after the wedding with their best friends took place at Junior’s on Flatbush Avenue, which is famous for its delicious cheesecake! Down the street on Dekalb Avenue between Washington & Waverly is the exterior used for Miranda and Steve’s home.

Now, go see the movie one more time and then retrace Carrie and the girls’ Manolo-ed steps throughout the city to all of these fabulous locations! We have an exclusive directory of all addresses featured in this story here. And don’t miss our tour of New York based on the original “Sex and the City” TV series!

Are you a Kim, a Khloe, or a Kourtney? No matter – whichever Kardashian sister you emulate, you can find something to wear at the store owned and operated by the sisters. Dash, located at 4774 Park Granada #5 in Calabasas, CA, is a stylish boutique where you can shop like the Kardashians – and maybe even run into them! They are often seen manning the boutique (which opened in 2006) on their E! reality show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” The store carries brands such as Nicole Miller, Sass & Bide, and Ashley Paige for Girls Gone Wild.

If you’ve got any little ones to shop for, you should also check out Smooch! The children’s boutique, located in the same park (just a few suites down, at 4774 Park Granada #2) and owned by Kourtney and the girls’ mother Kris Jenner, is chock full of adorable kids’ clothes for the tiny fashionista in your life!

A few extra places:

In the first-season episode “Remembering Dad”, Kris and the kids go to her late husband Robert Kardashian’s favorite Armenian restaurant to share memories of the kids’ father. The restaurant is The Carousel, at 304 North Brand Boulevard in Glendale, CA.

During Season 2, when Khloe and Kourtney go to an acting class, it’s at Expressions Unlimited in Sherman Oaks, CA, at 13317 Ventura Blvd, Studio G. Coach Bobbie Shaw Chance has worked with some Hollywood heavyweights, such as Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, and Brad Pitt.

In season 3, Khloe introduces her brother and sisters to her new boyfriend Rashad at Hollywood hotspot Ketchup, at 8590 Sunset Boulevard. (Ketchup was also seen in an episode of that other LA reality series, “The Hills” – check out the story here.)

Last year, Khloe and Kourtney traveled to Miami to open a new Dash store and star in their own reality spin-off, “Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami”. The new store is located at 815 Washington Ave in Miami Beach, FL.

A quick guide to a few points of "Office" interest in Scranton, PA.

Cause a Scranton party don’t stop!

Or, at least, that’s what Michael Scott would have you believe. But in reality, Scranton seems more like a city where dreams go to die. Okay, maybe that’s a little harsh, but there’s really not much there – unless you’re a major fan of NBC’s wry and hilariously awkward hit show “The Office”.

Though “The Office” is not actually filmed in Scranton, PA, it is where the show’s fictional paper company Dunder Mifflin is located, and where the show is set. And if you’re a dedicated fan of “The Office”, you’ll enjoy all the town’s nods to the show. Driving through the town, you’ll notice little touches such as Dunder Mifflin signs. The city is proud to be the (fictional) home of the struggling paper company.

A Dunder Mifflin sign on the streets of Scranton. (LTM)

Your first stop in town might be the Mall at Steamtown. You’ll recall that in one episode of “The Office”, Michael took the ladies here for a Women’s Appreciation Day. At the mall, you can find several items of “Office” memorabilia – such as Dunder Mufflin signs, cardboard cutouts of the characters, as well as the Scranton Welcomes You sign that is seen in the show’s opening credits.

A Dunder Mifflin sign in the Steamtown Mall. (LTM)

Cardboard cutouts and the show's Scranton Welcomes You sign.

One of the major hangouts for the characters on the show is Poor Richard’s, a bar/pub where they go to let loose after a day of tedious office work. The real Poor Richard’s is located at 125 Beech Street in Scranton, and welcomes “Office” fans with open arms!

Poor Richard's welcomes you to Scranton. (LTM)

It can be found inside a bowling alley called South Side Bowl. The bar itself has televisions for watching sports games, dartboards, and karaoke on some nights. In the bowling alley, you can buy Poor Richard’s items such as shot glasses and t-shirts. They make great souvenirs for you or gifts for your “Office”-obsessed friends!

Poor Richard's, the ultimate Dunder Mifflin hangout. (LTM)

So it seems that the “Office” tour of Scranton is fairly short, but if you’re a bigtime fan it makes a great day trip or quirky weekend getaway! Enjoy the nonstop party of Scranton… and if you run into Meredith drunkly stumbling around in an alley, head in the opposite direction!

If you’d like to visit a place that’s both a natural wonder and a place where the “Office” cast did film on location, why not hit up Niagara Falls? This beautiful and romantic spot was a perfect place for Jim and Pam’s wedding, and if you visit you’ll definitely have flashbacks to their big day.

Watching 1990’s “Mermaids” last night, a few of the locations seemed eerily familiar to me. The film, starring Cher, Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci, and Michael Schoeffling (hello, Jake Ryan!), takes place in small-town Massachusetts in the early 1960s. I instantly fell in love with the tone of the film, the 60s music and outfits, and the sarcastic but sweet sensibility of the lead characters. (Christina Ricci’s Kate is positively adorable, and Winona Ryder’s Catholicism-obsessed Charlotte is hilarious.) In fact, it reminded me of several other witty and intelligent young women: Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.

The WB’s hilarious and heartwarming dramedy “Gilmore Girls,” starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, was filmed on the WB studio lot in Burbank, CA for its entire seven-season run. The small town of Stars Hollow was created using the WB’s elaborate town square set, which has been used in countless films and TV shows. This set also took center stage in “Mermaids.”

The town square from "Gilmore Girls" and "Mermaids" was recently used for TV productions "Eastwick" and "The Forgotten." (Photo: Christina LeBlanc)

Luke’s Diner from “Gilmore Girls” is the same set that was used for Lou’s shoe store in “Mermaids,” and you can see Winona Ryder walk the same streets that Lorelai and Rory did all those years. The town square set was also used in “Back to the Future” and still stands on the WB lot, which offers VIP tours daily, Monday through Friday from 8:20 am to 4:00 pm.

The WB lot is located at 3400 Riverside Drive in Burbank, CA. The VIP Tour will run you about $45, but it’s totally worth it to get an up-close look at film and television history. Check out my review of the tour for all the important info!
