We were in Boston a few weeks ago and a friend pointed out a diner near South Station as the place where college students go when the bars close, with a good crowd and relatively affordable late-night prices. When watching “21,” we spotted it as an exterior shot.

Secret Service-themed thriller “Vantage Point,” out on DVD this week, is an hour-and-a-half of nonstop action sequences. It stars Matthew Fox from ABC’s “Lost,” Forrest Whitaker, and Dennis Quaid.

Although the TV series came long before our time – our parents hadn’t even met when “Get Smart” first aired on NBC and CBS – we found this 21st-century adaptation fun and, well, smart.
