TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles” is set on the New England streets of Boston, MA, but it’s filmed thousands of miles west at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA.
One of the main exterior sets used for “Rizzoli & Isles” is the entrance of the Boston Police Department, where the main characters work as homicide detectives and medical examiners. It gets a lot of face time in the first-season finale, when there is a shootout outside of the BPD and Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) is taken hostage.
The facade used for the exterior of the Boston Police Department is on one of the backlot streets at Paramount, and you can see it if you take their studio tour.
The exterior of the BPD has also been used in countless other productions, including “Everybody Hates Chris”.
The building behind Frost, Korsak, and Cavanaugh is also on Paramount’s lot, and has showed up in episodes of other shows, such as “Lie to Me”.
